Hohoe (V/R), May 20, GNA – The Hohoe Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region, has called on the Police Command to enforce the ban on commercial use of ‘Pragya’ in the Municipality.

Pragyas are commercial three-wheeled motorized vehicles also known as ‘Mahama Can Do’ or ‘Keke’.

Mr Wisdom Kporngor, Hohoe Municipal Coordinating Director in a letter to the police sighted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the General Assembly had ban the operation of the vehicles in the Municipality.

“At its First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Assembly, held on Thursday, 14th May, 2026, the House reaffirmed its earlier decision made on 27th September, 2023 at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Eighth Assembly, banning the commercial operation of ‘pragya’ within the Municipality.

He said the General Assembly further resolved that the existing ban shall remain in full force until a substantive Motion was formally passed by the House and all necessary procedures followed for either the amendment or repeal of the decision.

Mr Kporngor said the police were requested to take the necessary measures to ensure the effective enforcement of the ban within the Municipality.

He also asked the police to direct all relevant officers under its Command to assist in ensuring the compliance with the Assembly’s decision.

Mr Kporngor said the Command’s cooperation in enforcing the dircctive would greatly support the Assembly’s efforts at ensuring order, safety and effcctive regulation of transport operations within the

Municipality.
