Accra, April 21, GNA – The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has donated two dialysis machines and other equipment to the Hohoe hospital to boost renal care services.
The donation, facilitated by HealthTeach Ghana and Project C.U.R.E., is expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage kidney-related conditions and improve patient outcomes.
Madam Adjoa Obuobia Opoku-Darko, Administrator of the Fund, said the intervention formed part of efforts to improve access to specialised healthcare services nationwide.

She said the equipment would provide critical support to patients battling kidney disease, describing it as a lifeline for many who depended on dialysis for survival.
Records from the hospital indicate that with its previous two dialysis machines, it conducted 1,385 dialysis sessions from August 2024 for 23 patients, three of whom had recently passed away.
Dr. Arko Akoto Ampaw, Medical Director of the hospital, who received the equipment, welcomed the donation, saying it would “effectively doubled the facility’s dialysis capacity.”
He said it would enable the hospital to serve more patients from the Volta Region and adjoining areas, ensuring timely access to life-saving treatment.
Dr. Ampaw expressed gratitude to the Fund and its partners for the support.

He said the intervention would ease the burden on patients and healthcare workers while improving the quality of care delivery.
Dr. Ampaw assured that the machines would be properly maintained to ensure their longevity and sustained service.
He said such partnerships were critical in addressing gaps in healthcare delivery and improving outcomes for patients with chronic conditions.
