London to host global awards celebrating food systems champions

Accra, July 31, GNA – Nominations have opened for the 2026 Women in Food and Agribusiness (WiFAI) Global Awards, an international initiative recognising women and allies advancing innovation, leadership and sustainability across global food systems.

The awards ceremony will be held in London on October 29, 2026, with nominations remaining open until August 30.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency said the awards would honour individuals, organisations and institutions making significant contributions to food and agribusiness through entrepreneurship, research, investment, technology, sustainability and industry leadership.

It said nominations were open to entrants worldwide and would be assessed by an independent international jury comprising experts from academia, industry, research, government, investment and international development.

The statement invited universities, businesses, government institutions, professional associations, development organisations, research institutions and industry bodies to nominate deserving individuals and organisations whose work met the published award criteria.

Nana Adjoa Sifa Amponsah, Founder of Guzakuza and Convener of WiFAI Global, said the awards represented the next phase of the organisation’s efforts to recognise leadership and expand opportunities across global food systems.

“For more than a decade, Guzakuza has convened leaders, supported entrepreneurs and created platforms that bring people together. The WiFAI Global Awards extends that work by recognising excellence across the international food and agribusiness community,” Nana Adjoa said.

The 2026 awards will recognise excellence across 20 categories, including Woman Agribusiness Founder of the Year, Woman Food Brand Founder of the Year, Food Innovation Award, AgriTech Innovator of the Year, FoodTech Innovator of the Year, Food Processing and Value Addition Award, Research and Science Excellence Award, Climate and Sustainability Leadership Award, Nutrition and Food Security Leadership Award and Rural Impact Award.

Other categories will honour excellence in food manufacturing, exports, hospitality, investment, research, sustainability and leadership.

The WiFAI Global Awards form part of the WiFAI Global Summit and Awards, an international gathering of leaders from business, government, academia, finance and development to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and explore opportunities across global food systems.

WiFAI is a global platform that convenes leaders across food, agribusiness, investment, research, technology, finance, policy and industry through international summits, awards, partnerships and media initiatives.

Guzakuza, the organisation behind the initiative, has spent more than a decade creating opportunities for women across food systems through leadership programmes, international events and professional networks, connecting more than 11,000 women across 36 countries. Its work focuses on strengthening leadership, entrepreneurship, collaboration and access to opportunities across the food and agribusiness ecosystem.
