Tamale, April 16, GNA – Professor Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS).
His appointment takes effect from June 27, 2026, and ends on August 31, 2030.
This was contained in a circular, signed by the Registrar of UDS and issued to the university community on Thursday.
The circular said, “The University Community is hereby informed that the Governing Council of the UDS, at its meeting, held on Thursday April 16, 2026, has appointed Professor Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu as the Vice-Chancellor of the University.”
It said “Professor Iddrisu is an accomplished academic and experienced university administrator.”
It said, “He currently serves as the Principal of the Nyankpala Campus and has distinguished himself through dedicated service, strong leadership and significant contributions to teaching, research and institutional development.”
It said,“He has an established record of scholarly work and has held several key academic and administrative positions within the University.”
The circular added that “His tenure as Principal has been marked by notable progress in academic programmes, staff development and campus growth reflecting his strategic vision and commitment to excellence.”
It said “The Goveming Council expresses confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and to advance the mission and strategic objectives of the University.”
It entreated members of the University community to extend their full support and cooperation to Professor Iddrisu as he assumed his new role.
