Klikor (V/R), April 22, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has led a high-powered government delegation to the Klikor Palace to commiserate with the chiefs, bereaved family, and people of the Klikor Traditional Area.
This follows the passing of their Paramount Chief and President of the Klikor Traditional Council, Torgbui Addo VIII.
The late traditional ruler, who joined his ancestors on January 14, 2026, at the age of 93, served his people from 1983 until his demise, earning recognition for his commitment to traditional leadership and community development.
The delegation included Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State; Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; Mr Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie, Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South; and Mr Bright Kumordzie, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Togo, among other dignitaries.
The delegation signed the book of condolence and presented items to the bereaved family as a mark of respect and solidarity.


Mr Gunu described the late chief as a pillar of the traditional council whose legacy of visionary leadership and dedication to customary governance would continue to inspire generations.
“His passing is a great loss not only to the people of Klikor but to the entire Volta Region and Ghana as a whole. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.
He emphasised the important role traditional authorities play in governance and development, noting that the late chief’s contributions had strengthened peace, unity, and progress within the area.
The newly enstooled Paramount Chief, Torgbui Addo IX, led the chiefs to receive the Regional Minister and expressed gratitude for the visit and the support extended to the traditional area.
He assured the delegation of his commitment to building on the legacy of his predecessor to advance development and maintain unity within the traditional area.
Funeral rites for the late Torgbui Addo VIII are scheduled to commence on October 1, with the final burial set for October 24, 2026.
