Junior Chamber of TTU schooled on leadership, managing successful business

Takoradi, July 06, GNA – The Junior Chamber of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the Takoradi Technical University (TTU), has been equipped with entrepreneurial training and leadership skills. 

 The   training programme for the TTU Chapter, also aimed at nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. 

The programme brought together students with entrepreneurial aspirations and industry experts to expose participants to practical business knowledge, leadership development and networking opportunities. 

It also encouraged them to create sustainable businesses and become job creators rather than job seekers. 

Madam Francisca Ansah, the Regional Manager of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, revealed that the Junior Chamber initiative was established to inculcate the entrepreneurial mind-set among students. 

She said the training sought to provide mentorship and coaching that would enable young people to develop innovative business ideas and transform them into successful enterprises. 

Madam Ansah encouraged the students to see themselves as a successful enterprise owners, while pursuing their academic programmes, noting that entrepreneurship remained one of the most effective pathways to addressing unemployment and promoting economic growth. 

 Mr. Erasmus Mensah Ackon, the Director of Duapa Workspace, took the students through his entrepreneurial journey, challenging students to move beyond the fear of inadequate capital and focus on solving real-life problems. 

He urged aspiring entrepreneurs to make use of available resources instead of waiting for investors before acting. 

“Nobody owes you funding. Start with what you know, what you have, and who you know,” he advised. 

 Mr. Joseph Amoako, the Director of the TTU’s Centre for Business Development and Entrepreneurship, lauded the Chamber for the move. 

He said: “Let me begin by commending the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its foresight and strategic commitment to youth entrepreneurship development through the establishment of the GNCCI Junior Chamber. 

He noted that the university continued to support the innovation, start-up development and stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
