Kumasi, April 26, GNA – Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called for renewed commitment between government and the private sector, stressing that economic growth depends largely on effective governance support.

He said Ghana needed a new paradigm in relations between the state and business, one that recognises that successful governance is anchored on the achievements of private enterprises.

“Business has become the key barometer by which we measure national development and, therefore, must be given special consideration,” he stated.

The Asantehene emphasised that government investment alone was insufficient to build a sound and resilient economy.

He made the remarks at the “World Meets in Ghana” Executive Gala held in his honour as a Pillar of Peace at the Manhyia Palace Jubilee Hall.

The event was on the theme: “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision.”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II called for a shift away from divisive and insult-driven politics towards a focus on national development and unity.

He expressed confidence in the country’s future and urged President John Dramani Mahama to work towards leaving a lasting legacy of prosperity and national pride.

On Ghana’s democratic journey, he noted that the quality of political discourse depended on sustained peace, which in turn required strong governance systems and economic stability.

He also highlighted the significance of Ghana’s upcoming 70th anniversary, describing it as an opportunity for renewed hope and forward-looking leadership.

“We are not only celebrating 27 years of our reign but also marking 70 years of Ghana as a sovereign nation. Next year begins the seventh decade of our nationhood,” he said.

The Asantehene noted that the country must not overlook the critical preconditions for sustaining peace, including good governance, the rule of law, and a resilient economy.
