Afadjato South (V/R), March 14, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, joined Afadjato South MP Mr Frank Afriyie, DCE Mr Manfred Tawiah, traditional leaders and residents for the sod-cutting and handing-over ceremony for 30 development projects in the district.
The projects span key sectors including education, health, roads, water and telecommunications, aimed at improving living conditions and expanding access to essential services in the district.
In the education sector, government is constructing a three-unit Junior High School classroom block with a staff common room and head teacher’s office at Kpeve Old Town DA School.
Similar three-unit classroom blocks with staff common rooms and head teachers’ offices are also under construction at Goviefe Agordome, Woadze Tsatoe D/A Basic School, and Lomnava Nyive/Hove AME Zion Primary School to expand access to quality education and reduce congestion in classrooms.
At Logba Horglikope DA Primary School, a two-unit Kindergarten block with an office, store, servery, washrooms and a courtyard is being constructed to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for young pupils.
In the health sector, a fully equipped Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with nurses’ quarters is being constructed at Agate to bring essential healthcare services, including maternal care, closer to residents.
The district has also benefited from the award of several key road projects, including the Kpeve–Goviefe Todzi Road, Nyangbo Konda Road, Logba Alakpeti–Klikpo Road, and the Logba Vuinta–Leklebi Dafor Road.
When completed, these roads are expected to improve connectivity within the district, facilitate the movement of goods and people, and support growth in education, healthcare, tourism and other economic activities.
Mr Gunu also disclosed that through the efforts of the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive, steps were being taken to resolve the longstanding water crisis in Ve-Golokuati, while work was also ongoing to improve telecommunications network coverage in parts of the district.
Additionally, 30 mechanised boreholes are being drilled and installed across communities in the district to improve access to safe drinking water, reduce water-borne diseases, and ease the burden on residents, particularly women and children.
Mr Gunu said the projects formed part of government’s broader efforts to improve social infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents of Afadjato South.
He noted that the interventions demonstrated government’s commitment to expanding access to essential services and promoting development across communities in the district.
