Tema-West BECE award winner advises candidates to stay focused on studies

Tema, March 7, GNA – Master Yaw Quainoo, a past student of Prince of Peace Presbyterian School at Tema Community 2/5, who was adjudged the best male student among private schools in the municipality, has advised students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to remain focused on their studies.

He urged candidates not to panic but rather remain disciplined and committed to their academic work to achieve success.

Master Quainoo, who wrote the BECE in 2025 and is now a student of Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after he was honoured alongside four other students during the Tema West Municipal Independence Day parade marking Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary.

Sharing his experience, he said being a day student who resided at New Dawhenya and attended school in Tema was challenging due to the heavy traffic on the Tema-Aflao Road, which he travelled on daily.

He explained that unlike some of his colleagues who stayed in school hostels during their final year to study for longer hours, his home environment sometimes made it difficult to study after school.

Despite the challenges, he said determination and conscious effort enabled him to perform well in the examination.

“Sometimes I got home so late that I could not study. This affected some of my marks, but I still succeeded,” he said.

Master Quainoo encouraged students preparing for the BECE to remain focused, manage their time well and work hard to achieve their academic goals.

He thanked his family, and teachers of Prince of Peace Presbyterian School for their support and encouragements.
