Motorbike accident claims two lives in Assin Fosu

Assin Fosu (C/R), March 08, GNA – Two persons were on Saturday, crashed to death in an accident involving two motorbikes on the Finest Pub stretch at in Assin Fosu, along the Cape-Coast highway. 

They were identified as Mr Daniel Agyeko, 19 and Ms Patience Pamful, 23. 

 Mr Solomon Nyame, 25 was seriously injured and receiving treatment at the St Francis Xavier Hospital. 

According to the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, ASP Wonder Lumor,  Mr Nyame was riding an unregistered royal motorbike with a pillion rider, Ms Pamful from the Assin Juaso direction towards Assin Fosu at a top speed. 

He said on reaching the Finest Pub Road, the rider allegedly spotted another motorbike from the opposite direction attempting to turn into a junction leading to the Pub. 

In the process, the rider failed to exercise care and attention, rode into the opposite lane, and crashed into the other motorbike ridden by Mr Agyeko. 

The impact of the collision, ASP Lumor noted, threw the two motorbikes, the riders and pillion rider to the pavement of the road. 

The three victims sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the St Francis Xavier Hospital where the two were pronounced dead on arrival. 

ASP Lumor said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. 

Surprisingly, he said the motorbikes involved in the crash were not found at the accident scene. 

Meanwhile, ASP Lumor has urged commercial motorcycle operators popularly known as “okada” riders to exercise extreme caution on the road, strictly adhere to traffic regulations and always prioritise safety.
