Anyako-Kpota (VR), March 5, GNA – The Keta Municipal Assembly, in the Volta Region, in collaboration with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), has announced the commissioning of a mechanised water project at Anyako-Konu and Seva, on Monday, March 9.
The project is expected to provide sustainable access to clean water for the communities of Anyako-Kpota, to improve living conditions and promote public health.
Mr Wonder Setsofia Deynu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Keta Constituency Deputy Communication Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that, President John Dramani Mahama was expected to grace the occasion, which would highlight the government’s commitment to water infrastructure development.
“Other dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources. Mr Vincent Kuagbenu, the Chief Executive Officer of CWSA, will participate to represent the agency’s role in facilitating community water projects,” he said.
He explained that Togbi Badu IV, the Head of the Klevia Clan, in Anyako would join dignitaries at the event and would be the chairman of the occasion to symbolise community involvement and traditional leadership support.
Mr Deynu said that other notable attendees would include Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, and Mr Kwame Dzidzorli Gakpey, Keta Member of Parliament (MP), and Mr Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Keta, would also be present which would demonstrate local government involvement in the project.
“The commissioning ceremony is scheduled to take place at exactly 0900 hours at Anyako- Kpota, we are inviting the general public to witness this historic occasion.”
He said that the water project featured mechanised systems, including solar-powered pumps and water treatment facilities, designed for efficient service delivery, while the initiative was expected to boost economic activities and improve sanitation in the beneficiary communities.
He mentioned that the project aligned with national goals of the NDC-led President Mahama administration, to ensure universal access to safe water and sanitation by 2030.
He said that the local residents had expressed optimism about the project’s potential to alleviate water scarcity challenges in Anyako and surrounding areas.
The event would also marked a significant milestone in the Keta Municipal Assembly’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and service delivery in the in municipality as well as the region.
