Bolgatanga, March 3, GNA -The leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 to Ms Rebecca Teni Akumbosigo, a midwife at the Yakote Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, to assist with her medical expenses.
Ms Akumbosigo is currently recovering from fractures sustained in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA).
The donation was presented on behalf of the Association by Madam Sadia Salifu, the Nabdam District Director of Health Services and a member of the Association in good standing.
In a statement released by the district leadership and copied to the Ghana News Agency, Madam Salifu reaffirmed the GRNMA’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its members.
She encouraged Ms Akumbosigo to serve as a “GRNMA Ambassador” upon her recovery, highlighting the importance of sharing the Association’s support systems with younger colleagues to encourage them to join the union.
Ms Akumbosigo expressed profound gratitude to the GRNMA leadership at both the district and national levels, describing the financial aid as “timely and generous.”
She noted that the gesture had significantly boosted her recovery process and pledged to actively promote the Association’s values among her peers.
The GRNMA’s support for its members extended beyond this single case: A similar donation of GH¢10,000 was recently made to a Community Health Nurse at the Baasa CHPS compound, who was also involved in a road accident.
Mr Moses Awinsor, the Fumbisi Sub-District leader, received the cheque on behalf of the victim and thanked the Association for its consistent solidarity.
Madam Seeta Achombisa, the District Public Health Nurse, urged all nurses and midwives to rally behind the GRNMA, stating that the organization truly has “members’ health and welfare at heart.”
