Tema, March 11, GNA – Some Ghanaian women have called for concrete actions to promote gender equality, mentorship, and economic empowerment.

According to them, this aligns with the “Give to Gain” theme for the 2026 celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD).

They urged the country to move beyond rhetoric by investing in women’s leadership in politics, business, and education.

Madam Torshie Anum, a resident of Tema who shared her views on IWD with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), called on leading women in Ghana to focus on investing in other women through mentorship, education, and economic opportunities for market women and entrepreneurs.

Madam Anum stressed that empowering women was not a favour but a strategic investment in better governance, sustainable peace, and stronger economies.

She also appealed to women leaders to support one another by lifting each other up and fostering a culture of encouragement for the next generation, noting that when women succeed, the nation prospers.

Madam Rejoice Ametefe, another resident of Tema, also highlighted the need for stronger advocacy to increase women’s participation in decision-making.

She expressed hope that more women leaders would emerge to help drive national development, adding that women significantly contribute to the growth of the country’s economy through their hard work and dedication.
