Kumasi, March 7, GNA – Management of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has called on Ghanaians to be focused and play active roles in addressing national issues.

Mr. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi, who made the call said prosperity was not automatic; “it is achieved through collective effort, responsible citizenship, and innovative approaches that drive the sustainable development of our nation.

At the same time, it challenges us to adopt practical strategies that improve educational outcomes, strengthen skills development, promote digital literacy, and equip our youth to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” he emphasized.

Speaking at the 69th Independence Anniversary Celebration in Kumasi, he reaffirmed the KMA’s readiness to transform the city, improve education, empower youth, and ensure sustainable urban development.

He indicated that the Assembly was working to expand access to quality learning environments, provide stronger support for educators, and improve school infrastructure.

These efforts reflect Kumasi’s proud legacy as a center of culture, innovation, and leadership, and demonstrate the resolve of ensuring that the city continued to thrive as a model of progress and opportunity for all, he indicated.

Reflecting on this year’s Anniversary theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope” said when leaders worked together, Ghana would progress with hope in economic development.

The occasion was used to award schools for their outstanding performances in quizzes, debates, sports, and examinations competitions.

Students from basic, junior high and senior high schools sung patriotic songs, performed cultural dramas and dances reminding Ghanaians of the need to stay united and peaceful with one another.

Mr. Boadi advised students to embrace patriotism, innovation, and discipline.
