Eleven people injured in Cape Coast – Takoradi Highway crash

Elmina, March 05, GNA-Eleven people sustained varying degrees of injuries when an Opel Astra saloon car and a Nissan Minibus collided at Eduadjei on the Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway on Tuesday night.  

The Opel (WR 4860-13) was heading towards Komenda from Cape Coast and the Nissan (CR 1414-23), a Cape Coast–bound bus crashed around 19:15 hours, but it is unclear what caused the.  

The victims comprised nine males and two females, DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Central Regional PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service, confirmed.  

Ten passengers who were on board the Nissan Minibus were rescued by passersby and sent to the Elmina Polyclinic before a rescue team from the Komenda Fire Station arrived.  

The fire team arrived within 15 minutes after receiving a call on the incident and extricated the driver of the Opel who was sent to the Elmina Polyclinic by the National Ambulance Service.  

The rescue team cleared debris from the road to restore the free flow of traffic and ensure safety at the accident scene.  

Investigations into the cause of accident was underway, DOII Hudu indicated.
