Golokuati (V/R), Sept 20, GNA–The Ve Traditional Council has held a multi-stakeholder general meeting to discuss pertinent issues bothering on the overall development of the entire Ve area.
The meeting brought together traditional rulers, companies, security agencies, District Assemblies, Assembly Members, the media, and interest groups to render their stewardship to the Council.
Highlights of the discussions centered on the current status of the Ve Traditional Council hall facility and its official handover to the Council, developmental initiatives in Ve, and the creation of employment opportunities for the youth of the traditional area.
Other issues discussed were improving educational standards within Ve area and addressing the decline in the teaching and use of the Ewe language in schools, the rise of ghettos and drug-related activities in Ve communities and possible solutions.
It also discussed the planning, coordination and implementation of the proposed “Lukusi Festival” (Dodoleglimeza) as the grand climax of the Lukusi Festival celebrations, which is scheduled to kick off from November 13th -22nd, 2026.
Addressing the meeting, Torgbui Akoto VIII, the Acting President of the Ve Traditional Council, called on traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders, interest groups, and all others to forge ahead in unity and give peace a chance for accelerated development.
He said without unity, their forward march to development could not be realised.
Togbui Akoto added that, this year’s budget was estimated to Ghc 63,900 and was being distributed among the elder’s internally towards the celebration.
Togbui Akoto, who is the acting Paramount Chief of the Ve Traditional Area, said disunity among traditional rulers and the youth of the Ve area had deprived them of opportunities in the agricultural, economic and social developments.
He assured the Council of bringing his expertise to bear on the goals set before it.
