Assin Andoe (C/R), March 6, GNA – More than 30 schools in the Assin South District of the Central Region participated in the 69th Independence Day parade, celebrated under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”
Addressing the parade, Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Jonathan Birikorang said the country’s forebearers secured freedom through courage and unity, and it was the
responsibility of all Ghanaians not only to celebrate political freedom but also to work together to build prosperity and restore hope for every citizen.
He noted that building prosperity involved strengthening the local economy, improving infrastructure, supporting farmers and traders, and creating opportunities for the youth.
In that spirit, he announced plans underway for the government to construct a 24-hour economy market at Assin Andoe to boost trade, create jobs, and improve livelihoods.
The DCE also raised concerns about acts of hooliganism among some schools and cautioned students to desist, warning that anyone caught would face strict punishment.
He encouraged students to study hard, be disciplined, respect teachers and parents, and believe in themselves to achieve greater exploits.
The ceremony was graced by Nanaanom, clergy, staff of the District Assembly, Education Directorate, and other enthusiastic guests, adorned in colourful traditional attire reflecting Ghana’s cultural diversity.
