Twifo Praso (C/R), Feb. 19, GNA – The Twifo Atti-Morkwa District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in collaboration with Environmental Health officers, has conducted an operation at the Twifo Praso Market, leading to the seizure and destruction of expired goods.

The exercise, aimed at eliminating hazardous products and safeguarding public health, resulted in the removal of more than 350 packets of expired drinks and other items, highlighting the magnitude of the problem.

Alarmingly, several products, including beverages with expiration dates of 2024 and 2025, were still displayed on shelves at the time of the operation but were subsequently seized and destroyed.

Mr James Prah, the NADMO Director for the area, stressed the urgent need for a crackdown on the sale of expired goods, describing them as serious public health threats.

He condemned the practice of some traders who used expired products as store decorations instead of disposing of them properly, emphasising that public health must take precedence over profit.

Mr Prah warned that continued violations would attract sanctions and reaffirmed the commitment of NADMO and Environmental Health officers to intensify market surveillance and ensure consumer safety.
