Kpone, Feb. 27, GNA- The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate has held its 2025 Annual Performance Review to assess progress made in healthcare delivery and outline strategies to address persistent challenges within the municipality.

Dr Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah, Municipal Director of Health Services, commended health workers for their passion, dedication, and commitment to improving the wellbeing of residents.

Dr Danquah said the municipality recorded a notable decline in the Outpatient Department (OPD) attendance but stressed the need to intensify efforts to sustain and improve service delivery.

She identified the Doctor-to-Patient ratio as a major challenge, revealing that the municipality currently operates at one doctor to 52,000 patients, far below the recommended one to 1,000.

She described the situation as worrying, considering the vast geographical size of the municipality, and appealed to the government to deploy more trained doctors to strengthen healthcare delivery within the municipality

According to her, poor road infrastructure was also affecting health delivery, making it difficult for health personnel to monitor the progress of their patients within the municipality, adding that patients choose to visit neighbouring districts.

Dr Seth Dortey Amanquah, chairman of the occasion, called on parents to closely monitor the activities of their children, particularly the girl child, to protect them from teenage pregnancies.

According to him, available data indicated that over 400 teenage pregnancies were recorded in the municipality in 2025, adding that there was also a surge in sexually transmitted diseases within the municipality.

He urged stakeholders to adopt rapid and coordinated interventions to curb the trend.

Mr Ali Amadu Mohammed, Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), who represented the Municipal Chief Executive, assured that the assembly remained committed to supporting improved health service delivery.

He said plans were far advanced to operationalise completed health facilities, while new ones would be constructed to augment existing infrastructure across the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality.

The 2025 annual performance review was held under the theme, “Advancing Health Equity Through Innovation, Data and Community Action: Integrating Technology and People Partnership for a Healthy Kpone-Katamanso.”

Health officials within the various health facilities in the municipality were given the opportunity to present their performance under the year in review as far as health delivery was concerned.
