GITFiC announces opening of admissions for AfCFTA professional Certificate Programme

Accra, Feb 26, GNA-The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC), under the auspices of the National Technical Working Committee has announced the official opening of admissions for the AfCFTA Professional Certificate Programme.
It is a premier executive AfCFTA education initiative designed to equip Africa’s professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and industry practitioners with practical knowledge and strategic insights into the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), awarded by the University of Ghana.

A statement issued by Mrs Miranda Nana-Yaa Cole, Education Coordinator of GITFiC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the programme was developed to deepen participants’ understanding of the African Continental Free Trade Area, its legal framework, trade protocols, market access opportunities, rules of origin and customs procedures.
It would also dwell on trade finance, and cross-border investment strategies.
“As Africa advances toward greater economic integration, this certificate programme provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to position themselves competitively within the continent’s evolving trade landscape. This is in line with a resolution passed at the 9th Annual Meeting on the 2nd Global Debt Initiative and the Inaugural AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress held in 2025”.

Delivered by distinguished faculty members and facilitators alongside seasoned industry practitioners and trade experts, Chief Trade Negotiators of the AfCFTA from selected African countries, the programme combines academic rigor with real-world application.
Participants will benefit from interactive lectures, case studies, policy dialogues, and networking opportunities with key actors in trade and commerce.
The duration of each cohort is four months, with matriculation and graduation ceremonies at each cohort.

The AfCFTA Professional Certificate Course is open to all inhabitants of Africa and can be attended in-person at the University of Ghana campus or virtually.
The programme will run concurrently with the AfCFTA Tertiary Curriculum by the GITFiC, being implemented by universities in Africa.

The AfCFTA Professional Certificate Programme is open to: All Trade, Finance, Logisticians, and policy professionals, all Public sector officials,all Private sector executives and entrepreneurs, all Legal practitioners and general consultants, all Researchers and development practitioners, and all Recent graduates seeking specialization and certification in African trade.

“Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a Professional Certificate by the University of Ghana.

“Entrants with Pre-tertiary qualification, diplomas, HNDs, and Undergraduate qualification will study the following modules: Foundations of Economics, Trade, and African Integration under the AfCFTA, AfCFTA Architecture, Institutions, and Market Access under the AfCFTA, Trade Barriers and Rules of Origin Fundamentals under the AfCFTA, Intra-African Trade, Value Chains and Industrialization under the AfCFTA, digital Trade, Investment and Legal Foundations under the AfCFT, trade Finance, Payments and Risk Fundamentals under the AfCFTA and applied Project – AfCFTA Readiness and Strategy under the AfCFTA
Entrants with Post graduate certificate will study the following modules:Foundations of Economics, Trade and AfCFTA Implementation (Advance) under the AfCFTA, Trade Barriers and Rules of Origin (RoO) Lab (Advance) under the AfCFTA, Value Chains and Market Access (Advance) under the AfCFTA. Intra-African Trade, and SME Competitiveness (Advance) under the AfCFTA, digital Trade, Industry Protection and Regulatory Frameworks (Advance) under the AfCFTA, Trade Finance, FX, Payments, and Risk Management (Advance) under the AfCFTA and Capstone Project: AfCFTA Implementation Strategy (Advance) under the AfCFTA
