Adidome (V/R), Feb 24, GNA – The Central Tongu District Assembly has provided support to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the district through the distribution of essential items aimed at enhancing their livelihoods and promoting inclusive development.
Mr Dodzi Addison Mornyuie, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the intervention was part of the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to improve the socio-economic well-being of persons with disabilities and ensure their active participation in local development.
The items distributed included freezers, grinding machines, wheelchairs, industrial sewing machines, sacks of maize, plastic chairs, and other tools to support beneficiaries to expand their businesses and strengthen their sources of income.
Mr Mornyuie reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to giving sustained attention to the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities, noting that the initiative was intended to promote dignity, self-reliance and equal opportunities.
He commended the beneficiaries for their resilience and contributions to the development of the district and assured them of continued support through targeted interventions.
Mr Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze, the Member of Parliament of Central Tongu commended the DCE and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that promote inclusion and improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration to advance development across the district.
He urged them to use the items purposefully and not to sell them out.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly for support, describing the items as timely and impactful in helping them improve their economic activities and livelihoods.
They appealed for the continuation of such interventions to support more members within the district.
