Sunyani (Bono), Feb. 06, GNA – The Bono Regional secretariat of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) says cases of child maintenance are assuming alarming proportions, with the region recording 908 cases in 2025.
Comparatively, the commission says the region saw some decline in the cases, with 2024 recording 1,096 cases, however, the situation remains disturbingly high.
Mr Johnson Tsagli, the Bono Regional Administrator of the CHRAJ who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), called on parents to prioritise the welfare of their children and help build a more secure future for them.
He said the commission also recorded 894 other human rights cases in 2025 with 13 of them being administrative justice, and corruption cases, compared to the 1,073 human rights cases recorded in 2024 which had 21 of cases of administrative justice, and two corruption cases.
Mr Tsagli urged parents to invest in the education of their children for them to grow up into responsible adults. Parents must also draw their children closer and listen to and guide them to make informed decisions for their lives, he advised.
He said it was a serious offence for parents to shirk off their parental responsibilities, warning that offenders would be punished accordingly.
