Akatsi (VR), Feb 6, GNA-Mr Makafui Atsu Kumordzi, the Director of Makafui and Sons Limited, a Lottery company located at Ayitikope in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region has borne the cost of fixing a broken-down Nissan Navara pick-up vehicle for the Police at Akatsi.
The entire maintenance, worth over GHS150,000, according to Mr Kumordzi, involved intensive maintenance work such as replacing the engine, the siren system, AC, shocks, tyres, and others.
Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Isaac Baah, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that vehicles served as mobile command centres, deterrents, and rapid response units necessary for effective crime fighting.
He said that their relevance spanned from high-visibility patrolling to specialised tactical operations, significantly impacting response times, officer safety, and the ability to manage, prevent, and investigate criminal activity.
Mr Baah commended him for his continuous support to the Police Service over the years.
He pledged their commitment to fighting crime in the area so that businesses would function effectively.
The Akatsi Police Command has only one Toyota Camry salon car for patrols until the intervention was made.
In attendance to hand over the fixed vehicle on Thursday was ASP Ahmed Ben Kasim, the Municipal Crime Officer.
Akatsi has been experiencing a series of criminal cases over the years and calls by individuals to boost the operations of the Police have intensified.
