‘Bawumia isn’t a threat to NDC’- Constituency Secretary

By Robert Tachie Menson

Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), Feb. 05, GNA – Mr Daniel Hinneh, the Dormaa Central Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) says the former Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, elected as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not threaten the electoral fortunes of the NDC in the Election 2028.

“All the presidential hopefuls who contested the just ended NPP primary pose no threat to the NDC in the Election 2028,” he stated, when commenting on the outcome of the NPP primary in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He said that: “Although the NDC maintains some level of respect for Bawumia,” the party was well positioned and determined to retain political power in the next General Election.

Mr Hinneh stressed that the mere fact that Dr Bawumia had 61 per cent votes during the NPP presidential primary in 2023, as against 56.6 per cent in the just ended primary, was enough evidence to show that his popularity in the Party had dimmed.

He said that the NDC remained ‘unperturbed and unfazed by whichever candidate the NPP will put up to face the NDC in the Election 2028,” however “the NDC isn’t taking chances lightly anyway.”

However, the NDC would not harbour any delusion that Dr Bawumia and the NPP weren’t a force to reckon with in the Election 2028, Mr Hinneh added.
