Nkwanta (O/R), April 30, GNA – St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in the Nkwanta South Municipality has given a rousing welcome to Ms. Beatrice Sewor, the 2025 National Nurse/Midwife of the Year, in recognition of her outstanding achievement in the healthcare sector.
The colourful ceremony brought together dignitaries from various departments within the municipality, as well as leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association from the Volta and Oti Regions.
Mr. Evan Ativor, the Municipal Health Director, commended Ms. Sewor for her dedication and hard work, even amid conflict in the area, which earned her the prestigious national award.
He encouraged other nurses and midwives to emulate her commitment by putting in greater effort to improve healthcare delivery and secure a brighter future in their profession.
Mr. Courage Kwame Kumah, the Volta and Oti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, also praised the awardee’s perseverance, hard work, and dedication, urging her to continue her exemplary service to humanity.
Mr. Bright Owusu Nyasemhwe, Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Group of Companies in Nkwanta, in a show of support, acknowledged her remarkable contributions and donated GHS2,000 to assist her, particularly to fuel the vehicle she received as part of her award.
Mr. Musah Mahama, the Municipal Coordinating Director, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, also made a cash donation and pledged the Assembly’s support for any initiatives she may undertake.
In addition, he announced that the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta had pledged to offer her a full scholarship to further her education.
Ms. Beatrice Sewor, in her address, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of the hospital, the association, her colleagues, and stakeholders for their unwavering support, encouragement, and teamwork throughout her journey.
She noted that their collective effort played a significant role in her success.
Ms. Sewor’s unwavering dedication to quality healthcare delivery in the municipality has not only improved lives but has also brought honour and recognition to the municipality and the region.
