Korpehem, Feb. 12, GNA – Mr Robbert Tetteh Atitianti, the Assembly Member for the Amlakpo Electoral Area in the Ada East District, has donated 20 bags of cement to the Korpehem Basic School.

The donation was support of the ongoing construction of a four-unit single-room self-contained teachers’ bungalow.

The project, being implemented through collaboration among the Assembly Member, the school and the community, has reached the window level, a progress Mr Atitianti described as a major milestone.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he commended Mr Divine Mccarthy, former head teacher of the school for initiating the idea and jointly cutting the sod with him to begin the project.

He said the project started in 2024, with funds raised through termly communal harvests, where residents contributed towards the construction.

Mr Atitianti said the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) had also agreed to contribute by adding a small component to examination fees and other school dues to support the building.

He noted that the community had shown strong commitment to the project, with residents actively participating in the construction since it began, contributing significantly to the progress made so far.

He said the project still required additional support, including cement, iron rods, boards and roofing sheets, to enable its timely completion.

“We are aiming to finish it before the year ends because the teachers are going through a lot. Some of them find it difficult to report to work when posted here due to accommodation challenges,” he said.

The Assembly Member therefore appealed to the public, corporate bodies and other stakeholders to support the initiative to help complete the project within the shortest possible time.
