Cape Coast, Jan. 31, GNA – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana, has won the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries in Cape Coast South by a landslide after securing 365 of the 584 total valid votes cast.
His closest contender, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, obtained147 votes to come second.
Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong followed with 67, three and two votes, respectively.
At the end of the exercise, 587 of the 637 registered voters turned out to vote, recording 584 valid ballots and three rejected ballots.
In Cape Coast North, Dr Bawumia secured victory with 322 votes, beating Mr Agyapong who obtained 215 votes.
Dr Acheampong, Dr Adutwum, and Dr Agyepong garnered 67, four and two, respectively.
Of the 635 qualified voters, 612 turned out to vote.
The elections were generally peaceful with minor issues.
