NPP flagbearer race: Constituency chairman urges massive participation

Odomase, (Bono), Jan. 31, GNA-Mr Abubakar Sadique, the Sunyani West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP is urging the delegates to go out in their numbers and exercise their franchise in the party’s presidential primary, underway nationwide.

Nonetheless, he cautioned the delegates, members and supporters of the party to remain lawful and decorous for the party to sail through the primary peacefully and successfully.

Delegates of the largest opposition NPP are voting in their various constituencies to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the Election 2028.

They are deciding on Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, Abetifi Member of Parliament (MP) and former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong and Bosomtwe MP and former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum to lead the NPP in the Election 2028.

Other presidential hopefuls include the former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Odomase, the constituency capital Mr Sadique said the party expected that the delegates visited the polling centers, conduct themselves well, and cast their ballots.

During a visit to the Presby Social Center, the venue for the event, the GNA sighted expectant delegates of the party in queues, waiting patiently to cast their ballots, amid heavy police presence.

The atmosphere was calm with a total of 1,061 delegates of the party expected to vote at the two polling centers.
