Kenyasi No. 2 (Ahafo) Jan 14, GNA – Residents of Kenyasi No. 2 in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region have expressed concerns over the impact of blasting activities by mining company Newmont Ghana in the community.
People living near the Newmont site, particularly around the Bypass and Habitat areas, say the blasting is compromising their safety and damaging properties.
Mr. Yaw Sarpong, leader of the affected residents, stated that cracks have appeared on numerous buildings as a result of the blasting, sparking fears about their safety and structural integrity.
“Newmont should enter into a clear agreement with residents to address the problem,” he said, seeking clarity on renovation or relocation options.
Residents are also worried about the fear and panic caused by the blasting, They say this disrupts their peace.
