Keta (VR), Jan. 10, GNA – The 1977-year group of Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) in the Volta Region has donated a newly furnished visitors’ lounge to their alma mater as part of activities marking their 50th anniversary celebrations.

The donation forms a significant contribution to the development of the school and highlights the role alumni can play in supporting educational institutions. The visitors’ lounge is expected to provide a comfortable space for visitors and enhance the school’s overall facilities.

Madam Grace Amey, a representative of the 1977 year group, told the Ghana News Agency that the gesture demonstrated the group’s dedication and appreciation for the education and opportunities they received at KETASCO.

She said the donation also underscored the importance of maintaining and using school facilities responsibly to ensure their longevity, adding that the support was borne out of pure generosity.

Madam Amey explained that the presentation of the facility marked the launch of the group’s 50th anniversary celebrations, a milestone that symbolised their enduring bond with the school.

She expressed gratitude to members of the group for their commitment and support and looked forward to the main anniversary celebration next year, when the group would celebrate five decades of excellence and resilience.

“Our donation is a shining example of the positive impact KETASCO has had on our lives. We are proud Ketascans and found it necessary to give back. Other year groups should follow suit,” she said.

Madam Amey acknowledged the efforts of several individuals, including the 1977 year group President, Mr Dogba John Korbla, whose dedication contributed to the success of the project. She also urged the school community to ensure proper maintenance and use of the facility.

She added that funding for the project came from voluntary contributions by members and assured that the main 50th anniversary celebration would introduce additional development projects to further improve the school.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the staff and students, the Headmaster of KETASCO, Mr Innocent Augustt, expressed appreciation to the old students for their generosity and commitment to giving back to the school that nurtured their success.

He said the visitors’ lounge would provide a conducive environment for visitors and students and help address challenges encountered during visiting hours, including students being scattered across the school compound.

Mr Augustt assured the donors that the school administration, together with student leadership, would ensure the appropriate use of the facility to achieve its intended purpose.

He urged other old students’ year groups and current students to emulate the example set by the 1977 year group by contributing to the growth and development of the school.

Mr Augustt reaffirmed the school’s support for the 1977 year group and welcomed them home, assuring them of full cooperation towards the successful celebration of their 50th anniversary in 2027.

The gesture has been warmly received by the school community, with teachers and students expressing gratitude for the group’s thoughtfulness and generosity, acknowledging the sacrifice and effort involved in executing the project.
