Wenyagor (VR), Jan. 22, GNA – Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Keta Member of Parliament (MP), in the Volta Region, has commissioned the second phase of an electrification project in hard-to-reach communities such as Wenyagor, Alakpakope, and Agornugble.
The communities were officially connected to the national grid, marking the first time they had access to electricity.
Mr Gakpey, during the commissioning ceremony at Wenyagor, disclosed that the success of the project was through the collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition which made it possible to bring immensed joy and renewed hope to the people of the three communities.
“I really appreciate all of you, community members who have gathered here in your numbers to celebrate the arrival of this electrification project, l appreciate your efforts, understanding, and collaboration for the successful executing of the project,” he said.
He explained that the electrification project would create job opportunities, support irrigation farming, enable the establishment of cold stores, enhance small businesses, and significantly improve learning conditions for students in the beneficiary communities.
He pledged to lobby for the construction of many other development projects which would include CHPS Compound to improve healthcare delivery in communities such as Wenyagor, Alakpakope, Agornugble, among others
“Let me also use this opportunity to thank you all for your continuous support and votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC, let me assure you that, your trust in us would always be honoured, and this project is just part of many more development works to come.”
Mr Gakpey said that commissioning of electrification projects at Wenyagor, Alakpakope, and Agornugble marked a new chapter of development which symbolised progress, opportunity, and a brighter future for the communities in the Keta constituency.
The first phase of the project was held at Lawoshime, Hagodzi, Mamime, Agornugble and others in the municipality to improve and uplift quality of life for many residents in the beneficiary communities.
Mr Wisdom Seade, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who also witnessed the ceremony extended his profound appreciation to the MP for the dedication and commitment to improving the lives of the people through development.
He said that the project was expected to drive socio-economic growth, promote education, and improve the overall well-being of residents in the beneficiary communities and encouraged residents to take full advantage of the project to enhance their livelihoods.
Mr Kumedzro Benjamin, a resident of the Alakpakope, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, described the occasion as one of the happiest days in their lives for witnessing electricity in their communities for the very first time.
He expressed excitement and gratitude over the project and thanked the MP and President John Dramani’s government for the various development project in the areas, and appealed for construction of good roads, CHPS compound and a reliable recreational zones in the areas to generate more income and revenue to boost the local economy in the communities.
The beneficiary community members pledged to support the MP in any other development project and urged others to rally their support for Mr Gakpey for more terms in governance for more life changing projects.
