Datsiedu (V/R), Jan. 12, GNA – Mr Zikpuitor Fiebor Agbeve, a prime witness in the alleged murder of Christopher Agboka, popularly known as Gbagbladza, has described the behaviour of the suspect as aggressive and inappropriate.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a fact-finding visit to Datsiedu-Gbordome, a farming community near Ziope in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region, Mr Agbeve said the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 6.
He identified the suspect as Edem Kpotsodzi Nyabali, a 32-year-old farmer and electrician.
According to the witness, the suspect climbed a coconut tree to pluck fruits but was warned by the deceased, an 86-year-old man, to stop because the coconuts were not yet mature.
Despite the warning, the suspect allegedly went ahead to pluck the coconuts and descended from the tree, after which he picked a quarrel with the deceased.
Mr Agbeve said the situation initially calmed down, but moments later the suspect suddenly chased the deceased with a knife.
The elderly man sought refuge at his house, where he managed to disarm the suspect. However, the suspect later returned with another knife and was again disarmed.
The witness said he briefly left the scene out of fear that the suspect might return to attack the deceased again.
Shortly after, he heard distress calls and rushed back to find Mr Agboka lying on the ground with severe injuries.

Mr Agbeve told GNA that the suspect fled the scene after the incident, but he pursued him, disarmed him, and handed him over to officers of the Ziope Police.
He said he was unaware that the suspect practised the “Kwaku” deity until after the incident, when a search of his room reportedly revealed items linked to the practice.
Mr Agbeve appealed to the Police to ensure that justice was served and that the law took its full course.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, January 12.
