Have-Fiakpokope (VR), Jan 12, GNA- Rural Youth Network, a Non-Profit Organisation, has donated about 160 pairs of footwear and sandals, together with hundreds of school bags to pupils in Have-Fiakpokope Basic School within Akatsi South Municipality.

The exercise, led by Madam Edna Attah, Founder of the US-based NGO, formed part of efforts to improve learning, enhance school attendance, and promote the overall well-being of schoolchildren in a deprived farming community.

The gesture, assisted by Mr Japhet Festus Gbede, the Assembly member for the area, who lobbied for the offer, said it would significantly boost education in the community.

In a welcome address, Mr Gbede commended the organisation for its commitment to education at the grassroots level.

He described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it would help ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, while boosting the confidence, dignity, and comfort of pupils as they attend school.

Mr Gbede observed that such initiatives underscored the collective responsibility of stakeholders, including civil society organisations and community leaders, to invest in the future of children, particularly those in underserved rural communities.

Mr Gbede expressed appreciation to Mr Dickson Assan, a Chartered Accountant and a career coach for his key roles in facilitating the engagement that resulted in the donation.

“On behalf of the people of Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area, I thanked Madam Edna Attah and the entire Rural Youth Network team for choosing Have-Fiakpokorpe and making a meaningful contribution to education in the community,” he added.

The exercise, which was warmly received by community members, teachers, and pupils, praised the team for the gesture and appealed for sustained support to improve education in rural set-ups.
