Broken-down truck finally removed from Lokoe intersection after public outcry

Ho-Lokoe, Jan. 11, GNA – Road and security authorities have finally removed a broken-down truck from the Lokoe intersection, after public outcry over the traffic congestion and potential safety risks. 

The truck, which had remained stranded on the dual carriageway at the Sokode-Lokoe intersection for more than a week, sparked concern among motorists and residents. 

Road users complained that the stationary vehicle obstructed traffic flow, creating congestion during peak hours, and posed a serious risk of accidents, especially at night. 

Some residents took to social media to question how long authorities would take to tow the truck away, describing the situation as dangerous and avoidable. 

In response, a joint team comprising the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Ghana National Fire Service successfully removed the damaged truck from the highway. 

A source involved in the operation said the swift intervention helped to ease traffic congestion and had averted any possible tragedy at the busy  

Mr Edem Kofi Kpotosu, the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, together with other officials, were commended for responding promptly to calls for action after the issue was raised publicly. 

Residents expressed appreciation to the security agencies and local authorities for listening to public concerns and acting decisively to resolve the problem. 

They, however, appealed to road authorities to respond more quickly to similar incidents in the future to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow in the municipality.
