Adidome (VR), Jan 11, GNA – Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area in the Central Tongu District, has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to allocate a patrol vehicle to the Adidome Police Station to boost policing operations in the district.
In an open letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Fiagbenu said the intervention had become necessary following the recent distribution of pickup vehicles to the Service by the Government.
He noted that the availability of a patrol vehicle would enhance police mobility, improve emergency response, and facilitate regular patrols within Adidome and adjoining communities.
Mr Fiagbenu indicated that improved visibility of police personnel would help deter criminal activities, strengthen security operations, and foster collaboration between residents and the police.
Some residents who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) welcomed the appeal, describing it as timely.
They said the provision of a patrol vehicle would help reduce crime, particularly petty thefts and night-time incidents, and enhance surveillance within the district.
Others were of the view that improved logistical support for the police would encourage the reporting of suspicious activities and contribute to the protection of lives and property.
The Assembly Member expressed confidence that the request would receive favourable consideration in the interest of public safety and community development.
