Bowiri-Takrabe (O/R), Dec 28, GNA – Osagyefo Nana Nyanya II, has appealed to the youth of Bowiri-Takrabe, a farming community under Biakoye District of the Oti Region, to take responsibility for fostering peace, discipline and accountability in their area.

The divisional chief emphasized that sustainable development cannot thrive in an engagement of conflict, indiscipline, or irresponsibility.

Speaking during the annual celebration in aid of development themed, “Building and Refurbishing of Social Amenities, The Role of the Youth,” the chief highlighted that while infrastructure projects such as roads, schools, sanitation facilities and communication networks are vital, they must be built on a foundation of peace and order.

Nana Nyanya stated that peace is the bedrock of every progressive community and where there is peace, unity flourishes and development thrives. Added that, investors and government agencies are attracted to peaceful and disciplined societies.

In a stirring address to traditional authorities, government officials and the youth of Bowiri-Takrabe, the divisional chief urged the younger generation to drive the community’s modern development.

He again appealed to government agencies, the district assembly, NGOs, traditional leaders and development partners to provide resources, technical assistance and policy support to the Bowiri-Takrabe community in the Oti Region.

Dr Richard Bisimpo, a retired Fire Service commander seized the opportunity and appealed to the government, Agriculture stakeholders and non-governmental organizations to provide financial support to farmers at Bowiri-Takrabe community.

He stated that people in Bowiri-Takrabe are mainly into farming of cocoa, maize, cassava, plantain, cocoyam and do not get any support, making them struggle to make ends meet, which is really affecting and discouraging the young ones who are interested venturing into agriculture.

He however urged authorities to prioritize agriculture and support farmers, particularly those in Bowiri-Takrabe in order for them to produce high yields.
