Tema, Dec. 08, GNA – The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has announced its plans to organise an agriculture business fair, to create a platform for innovation and knowledge sharing.
Madam Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the fair would play a vital role in promoting innovation, fostering economic development, ensuring food security, and building community cohesion within the agricultural sector.
She announced this during the metropolis’ commemoration of the National Farmers on the theme: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
Madam Bright said the fair, which would include an exhibition, would enable farmers, researchers, and service providers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and learn about new agricultural techniques and technologies to improve their productivities.
She said the event would generate significant economic benefits, not just within the fairgrounds but also in the wider local and regional economy by promoting rural tourism.
“It would also create job opportunities in the metro such as production, processing, packaging, distribution and also boost trade opportunities globally for farmers,” she added.
The fair would also help strengthen domestic value chains by providing a space for business interactions and deal-making between producers and service providers, while offering opportunities for the marketing of products directly from farmers to consumers.
It would also aid local products in getting access to international markets by encouraging adherence to quality standards.
