Sunyani Central Prison triumphs at inter-stations sports festival

Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 03, GNA – the Sunyani Central Prison clinched the coveted trophy in the men’s football competition, after defeating Duayaw-Nkwanta Prison in the finals of the inter-stations sports festival held at the Sunyani Coronation Park. 

The two-day inter-stations sports festival, organised by the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Command of the Ghana Prisons Service, aimed to foster unity among participating stations while promoting teamwork, discipline, and institutional development. 

Participants included prison officers from the Sunyani Central, Sunyani Female, Kenyasi Camp, Duayaw-Nkwanta Camp and Yeji Camp Prisons respectively.  

They competed in football, volleyball, tug of war and track events, all marked by discipline, teamwork and friendly rivalry. 

Yeji Camp Prison and Kenyasi Prison placed third and fourth respectively in the men’s football contest. 

In the women’s football category, the Sunyani Central Prison again emerged victorious, with Kenyasi Prison securing second place, while Duayaw-Nkwanta Prison came third and Yeji Camp Prison finished fourth. 

In men’s volleyball, Kenyasi Prison claimed first place, followed by Sunyani Central Prison in second. 

Sunyani Central Prison took the top spot, in the women’s volleyball competition, Kenyasi Prison came second, Duayaw-Nkwanta Prison placed third and Yeji Camp Prison finished fourth. 

Sunyani Central Prison also dominated the tug of war events and in the men’s category, they secured first place, with Yeji Camp Prison coming second. 

 In the women’s category, the Central Prison again placed first, followed by Kenyasi in second, Duayaw-Nkwanta Prison in third place, leaving Yeji Camp Prison with the fourth position. 

In the men’s 100m dash, Sunyani Central Prison took first place, with Yeji Camp Prison finishing second, while, in the women’s 100m dash, Sunyani Central Prison again came first, followed by Duayaw-Nkwanta Prison in the second place.
