Odomase, (Bono), Dec. 22, GNA-Alhaji Ibrahim Mustapha, the newly enstooled Sunyani West Municipal Chief Imam has called on the Muslim communities to cherish and protect the prevailing peace in the Municipality.
He said as Christians celebrated the festive season, there was the need for Muslim youth to be guarded, embrace and accept diversity by coexisting peacefully with people from different faiths and backgrounds.
Alhaji Mustapha gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of his enstoolment at a colourful ceremony held at the Odomase Number One Zongo community in the Municipality.
He emphasised that peace remained the pre-requisite for progressive and sustainable development and urged the people in the Municipality to avoid acts that could endanger the prevailing peace, before, during and after the festive season.
Alhaji Mustapha expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the entire chiefs and people of the Municipality for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his dedication to spearhead the development of the Zongo community and the municipality by extension.
Osabarima Kwabena Yeboah, the Krontihene (sub-chief) of the Odomase Number One Traditional Area urged the Muslim community in the town to endeavour to build a befitting mosque.
He said the traditional council was ready to release land for the mosque and called on the chief Imam to prioritize the construction of the mosque.
