Ho, Dec. 23, GNA- McDave family, a philanthropic family in Accra, has brought joy and renewed hope to the children at the New Horizon E.P Educational Centre for the Blind in Ho, Volta Regional capital, following a kind donation to the Centre.
The family donated items including bags of rice, bags of beans, cooking oil, oats, soft drinks, biscuits, clothing, crates of eggs, chicken, milk, tin tomatoes, sugar, and some cash.
The gesture was to alleviate the daily problems encountered by the children at the Centre and bring smiles to their faces, demonstrate the family’s dedication to social responsibility and continuous support for the underprivileged in society.
The family commended the Centre’s efforts at transforming the lives of the children and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they needed to compete favourably with their peers in the mainstream.
The family lauded the bond between the teachers and the children, which is a crucial component for healthy child training, and encouraged the teachers to keep up the good work by giving the children the best quality education.
Dr Linda Portia McDave, a member of the family, told Ghana News Agency that the items presented were intended to help in supporting the needs of the children and improving their overall well-being.
She said the act of generosity was a powerful way of spreading love, hope, and happiness, particularly among the most vulnerable members of society.
Mrs McDave praised management and the teachers for the various forms of care they had provided for the children and said that these kinds of donations were essential in raising the standard of care provided.
To reach their full potential and develop into responsible adults, Mrs McDave urged the children to focus on their studies and avoid acts that could impede the development and endanger their future.
She advised parents of children with disabilities to show them love and provide them the opportunities to realise their potential through education and training, saying that, “God’s ways are mysterious.”
“Children with disabilities need our love and support to be integrated into the system,” she said, urging society to give these children the assistance they required to foster an environment that supports their holistic development.
Mrs McDave appealed to individuals, corporate bodies, and organisations to support the Centre to ensure the continuous welfare and development of the children.
Mr Eric Ofori, Director of the Centre, thanked the family for their support and pledged to use the items responsibly to the benefit of the children.
