Tema, Dec. 22, GNA – Dr Samson Kraikue-Quaicoe, a Health Service Administrator at Lena Home Clinic, has advised Ghanaians to visit health facilities regularly for medical check-ups rather than waiting until they feel ill.
Dr Kraikue-Quaicoe, speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), explained that the clinic organised a health walk and screening exercise to promote preventive healthcare and encourage the public to prioritise regular medical examinations.
He said preventive screening and health maintenance were more cost-effective than curative care, noting that not all diseases could be cured, and early detection remained critical to good health outcomes.
He added that the clinic planned to introduce more health-related activities in the coming year to further promote wellness among residents.
Dr Gideon Gokah, the Medical Director of the clinic, said the screening exercise covered hepatitis B testing and vital signs of checks such as body mass index, hypertension, diabetes and typhoid.
He noted that hypertension and high blood pressure were among the leading causes of death in Ghana and were often associated with diabetes.
He reiterated that the public must take preventive healthcare seriously, stressing that regular medical check-ups could help detect health conditions early, prevent complications, and enable individuals to remain healthy enough to achieve their life goals.
Madam Helen Semavor, the Nurse Manager of the hospital, said health was wealth, explaining that many people lived with illnesses without knowing where to seek appropriate medical care.
She noted that Lena Home Clinic offered a wide range of healthcare services, including specialist care in gynaecology, internal medicine, and paediatrics.
