Accra, Sept. 12, GNA – Kids from the Western Regional branch of the Captain One Golf Kids project made their mark at the recently held National Junior Golf Games held at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra.
Held by the Junior Golf Foundation under the auspices of the Ghana Golf Association, the event was aimed at giving opportunity to young golfers to exhibit their talent and get the chance to compete in a friendly environment.
Captain One Golf was represented by 12 junior golfers being trained in partnership with the Tarkoradi Golf Club under the tutelage of professional golfer, Alex Afful.
After the day’s event, John Amuzu finished first in the six holes competition while Sally Nketsia finished first in the three holes competition with Gladys Mensah coming second in the nine holes category of the games.
Also, Kevin Ansah came second in the nine holes event while Kojo Anumel finished third in the six holes competition.
Mr Pius Ayeh Appiah, President and founder of the Captain One Golf Society Kids project, said the society was extremely proud of the kids for their performance, commitment and determination adding, these results demonstrated the value of providing young golfers with opportunities to learn, compete and develop their skills.
He noted that, “this is a proud moment not only for the team but also for everyone who believes in the development of golf in Ghana. I congratulate the players because they have demonstrated what can be achieved through discipline, hard work and the right guidance.
He thanked the Takoradi Golf Club for providing an environment that supported the development of these young golfers and for being an important part of their journey.
The President also expressed his appreciation to Flo Polo Designs – Floria Hurtubise for her valuable support towards the team, as well as Coach Alex and the Egyam Children’s Home representatives for accompanying and supporting the kids throughout the trip.
He added that “at Captain One Golf Society, our commitment goes beyond celebrating victories. Through the Captain One Kids Project, we are investing in the next generation of golfers by identifying, mentoring and providing opportunities for young talents to develop their potential.
“The success we are celebrating today is proof that when young people are given the right support, they can excel on the biggest stages and I appreciate everyone who continues to believe in and support the C1GS Kids Project. Together, we are giving these young talents the opportunity to grow and compete.”
He called on corporate Ghana and philanthropists across the nation to come on board to give hope and life to young talented kids to realise their dreams in the sport of golf.
