Accra, Dec. 19, GNA – Government has commended staff of the Information Services Department (ISD) for their professionalism, resilience and dedication, assuring them of enhanced support to improve working conditions and effectiveness.

Mr. Felix Kwakye‑Ofosu, Minister in charge of Government Communications, gave the commendation in a speech read on his behalf by Madam Shamima Muslim, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, at the ISD End‑of‑Year Carols Service and Awards ceremony in Accra.

He said the contributions of ISD staff, whether behind desks, microphones, cameras or in the field across regions and districts, had been vital in keeping the public informed, engaged and connected to government.

Mr Kwakye‑Ofosu acknowledged that the year had been challenging for many staff, citing heavy workloads alongside personal, health and financial pressures, but praised their perseverance and commitment despite the difficulties.

He assured them of government’s resolve to enhance their work, including the provision of improved logistics and tools, investments in modern communication infrastructure, expanded training and capacity‑building in digital and multimedia communication, and stronger inter‑agency coordination.

“To this end we have procured many state‑of‑art Information vans and more,” he said.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to improving institutional welfare and conditions of service, adding that a motivated and well‑resourced ISD was essential to national development and democratic accountability.

He urged staff to remain purpose‑driven in their work, drawing on the Japanese concept of “Ikigai” to encourage them to see their role as a bridge between government policy and public understanding.

Mr. Kwakye‐Ofosu also highlighted the importance of mental and physical wellbeing, calling for a supportive and respectful workplace culture that promoted kindness, rest and open conversations about mental health.

He said the success of President John Dramani Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Agenda depended not only on sound policy but also on clear, credible and compassionate communication.

Dr Winifred Nafisa Mahama, Acting Director of ISD, thanked staff for their devotion and resilience throughout the year despite operational challenges, and urged them to sustain their commitment in the coming year.

Awards were presented to deserving staff in recognition of their dedication and outstanding service.
