Future leaders must be involved in fight against corruption

By Edward Williams

Hohoe (V/R), Dec. 12, GNA – Mr Ernest Amedior, the Hohoe Municipal Director, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has called for the involvement of the youth in the fight against corruption.

He said it was important to educate the youth about corruption as a canker depriving individuals from achieving and attaining their goals.

Mr Amedior in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the NCCE and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) with the GIZ, were marking the 2025 International Youth Against Corruption with education for some selected youth in the Municipality.

He said the youth as future leaders needed to be abreast with corruption and its related issues, including damages it caused and the consequences.

Mr Amedior said the education would also enable the youth to eschew corrupt activities and become responsible citizens wherever they found themselves.

He said the youth were expected to talk about corruption among themselves, as well as become agents of change, speaking up and reporting corrupt practices even in their schools.

Mr Amedior encouraged the youth to resist, reject corrupt practices since they were protected under the country’s Whistleblowers Act, where their identity would not be exposed.

He called on parents to support and continue to educate their children about corruption and its effects.
