Accra, Dec. 31, GNA – A six-year-old boy, Godfred Aboagye, has drowned at Wallantu, Kasoa, in the Central Region after attempting to retrieve a ball from an open water tank.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the incident occurred at about 1703 hours on Sunday, December 29, 2025.
The body of the child was retrieved and handed over to the Police for preservation and further investigations.
According to preliminary findings, the boy fell into the uncovered tank while trying to retrieve the ball.
The GNFS has extended its condolences to the bereaved family and urged parents, guardians, and property owners to ensure that all water storage facilities are properly secured to prevent similar incidents.
“GNFS urges parents, guardians, and property owners to secure all water storage facilities and report emergencies via 112, 0201500360, or 0302772446 for swift response,” a Facebook post by the Public Relations Officer of the Central Region said on December 29, 2025.
