Bono Fisheries Commission commends Bui Power Authority for supporting fish farmers, processors

Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 17, GNA – Madam Diana Obuobi Sakyibea, the Bono Regional Director of the Fisheries Commission, has expressed appreciation to the Bui Power Authority (BPA) for their contribution to farmers and processors. 

She was speaking at the regional edition of the 41st National Farmers Day celebrations. 

Later in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Sunyani, Madam Sakyibea described the support as unprecedented, saying, the Authority’s contribution made it possible to recognise and reward six outstanding individuals across the fish value chain including fish farmers and processors. 

Madam Sakyibea mentioned that the donated items comprised bags of fish feed, weighing scales, basins, waders, bundles of fishing nets with floats and leads, mesh nets, and water quality testing kits. 

The beneficiaries of the Bui Power Authority’s donation included Mr Ernest Owusu Mensah and Mr Peter Ansu, both named as outstanding regional fish farmers, whereas Madam Selina Otumfour and Madam Beatrice Ngo were  recognised as the best regional fish processors. 

The rest were Mr Dordzi Moses and Togbui Tsatsu Awovi II, who received the award for the best regional inland fishermen. 

Madam Sakyibea emphasised that the resources were essential for enhancing the productivity and efficiency of both fish farmers and processors. 

She encouraged the award recipients to build on their achievements and sustain their contributions to national food security and economic development, through increased fish production. 

She thanked the Bui Power Authority for its invaluable support, calling for deeper collaboration, and urged other corporate entities to join efforts in advancing the fisheries sector.
