Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 4, GNA – The Blue Skies Foundation, charitable arm of Blue Skies a fruit juice company, has handed a state-of-the-art Agriculture Resources Centre to the Sunyani Greenfield Mango Farmers Association.
The facility, which includes a conference hall, office, input shop, and washrooms, has been named in honour of the late Mr Ernest Adjei Ablorh, former Head of Agronomy at Blue Skies.
The Construction of the centre began in April 2025 and was completed and handed over on December 3, 2025.
The centre is intended to serve as a specialised training and resource hub to enhance the skills and knowledge of mango farmers, ultimately improving their productivity.
Dr Anthony Pile, Board Chairman of the Blue Skies Foundation, noted that the company, began operations 29 years ago with 35 Ghanaian workers but now boasts of 5,500 workforce.
He stated that Blue Skies mango was growing at a rate of 15 percent annually, adding that just a few weeks ago, the company processed 1,000 tons of mangoes.
Dr. Pile commended the farmers for their continued support, saying the fruits sourced from Ghana were proving to be among the finest mangoes in West Africa.
He encouraged mango farmers in the Sunyani area to increase their current supply from 70 percent to about 99.9 percent.
Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah, the Bono Regional Extension Officer, urged mango farmers to maintain high-quality production standards to secure premium prices for their produce.
He assured the farmers that the Department of Agriculture would continue to support them through extension services and research to ensure they are given information concerning mango interventions periodically.
Mr George Kafui Agbozo, Chairman of the Sunyani Greenfield Mango Farmers Association, confirmed that the association currently supplied 70 percent of its production to Blue Skies.
He described the partnership with the company as cordial, emphasising that it has been crucial in preventing post-harvest losses, given the perishable nature of mangoes.
Mr Agbozo expressed gratitude for the new resource centre, which will save the association from operating in a rented premises, saying,the facility would reduce operational costs and enhance efficiency for members.
