Anloga DCE breaks ground for construction of classroom blocks and other projects

Anloga (VR), Dec. 5, GNA- Madam Seyram Sandra Kpedor, the Anloga District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Volta Region, has broken ground for the construction of several classroom blocks and other infrastructure projects in the district to improve development. 

The projects include a 3-unit classroom block and a 2-unit chamber and hall apartment at Sodzi Basic School, a 3-unit classroom block at Akplowortokor Basic School, a fully equipped CHPS compound and a chamber and hall semi-detached bungalow for staff in Dzita, and a 2-unit KG block with ancillary facilities at Tegbi-Afedome Basic School. 

Madam Kpedor, accompanied by technical officers from the Assembly, during a short ceremony held at Sodzi, handed over the sites to contractors for the projects and urged them to ensure quality work throughout the execution of the projects.  

“This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve education and healthcare infrastructure in the district, and our aim is to bring education and health facilities to the doorsteps of every individual to improve their lives,” she noted. 

She emphasised that the construction of the classroom blocks was expected to address the infrastructure gaps in the schools in the district as well as provide a better and conducive teaching and learning environments for all students in the area to uplift standard of education in the municipality. 

The DCE said that the CHPS compound in Dzita and other places would also improve healthcare delivery services in the communities and beyond and alleviate the plights and challenges the residents faced in travelling long distances to other places in search for accessible healthcare centres for quality healthcare delivery. 

“Our vision for the district is to improve education, health, roads, tourism, and industrial development. I have already launched initiatives to support women and youth entrepreneurs and promote agricultural diversification in the district.” 

She said the projects were expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the district and appealed to contractors to ensure timely completion of the projects for the development and progress of the beneficiary communities. 

Madam Kpedor noted that the Anloga District Assembly had also identified education and healthcare as key areas of focus, and the projects were a step towards achieving the goals and urged various communities to welcome and support the initiatives to smooth completion of the projects. 

The constructors of the projects pledged to work within the stipulated time for a successful project and appealed to the communities to provide the necessary support needed for early completion. 

Some beneficiary community members the Ghana News Agency spoke with expressed excitement over the projects and described the construction of the classroom blocks and CHPS compound as a part of the government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure in the district which were expected to benefit the local communities and contribute to the district’s development. 

They praised the DCE for prioritising the importance of quality healthcare, education and timely completion of the projects and urged her to continue supporting communities to benefit from various initiatives and work to achieve the development goals of the district while many others were eagerly waiting for the commissioning.
