Air attack on teashop in north-western Myanmar kills at least 20

Berlin, Dec 6.(dpa/GNA) – At least 20 people died and 30 others were injured, in an airstrike on a teashop in Tabayin, north-western Myanmar, local authorities told dpa on Saturday.

They said the ruling military junta had carried out the Friday evening attack. A five-year-old child was the youngest fatality, and the oldest was 77, with the death toll expected to rise.

Dozens of patrons had gathered in the teashop to watch a repeat broadcast of a match of the national women’s football team.

According to eyewitnesses, two bombs were dropped directly onto the establishment. The junta has not commented on the attack.
