Accra, Nov. 13, GNA – Two organisations have donated assorted agricultural inputs and cash to support preparations for the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration scheduled for December 5, 2025, in Ho in the Volta Region.
The presentation was held at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) head office in Accra.
Rainbow Agrosciences Limited, an agrochemical company, donated assorted crop protection chemicals valued at GH¢270,000, including insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides. The company also presented GH¢30,000 in cash to the Ministry to support activities marking the celebration.
Mr George Selasi Ocloo, Technical Manager of Rainbow Agrosciences, said the donation formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and its partnership with MoFA to improve agricultural productivity through initiatives such as the Crop Clinic programme.
“We recognise the Ministry as a key stakeholder in the industry. It’s our responsibility to give back and ensure that farmers have access to quality and safe agricultural products,” he said.

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) also presented 100 bags of fertiliser to the Ministry.
Prof. Kehinde Ogunjobi, Country Representative of IWMI, said the donation was part of efforts to promote environmentally sustainable agriculture and support the transition from inorganic to compost-based fertilisers.
“We believe agriculture should be practiced in a safe and environmentally friendly way. That’s why we are promoting compost fertilisers developed through our research, which have proved efficient on various crops,” he said.
Receiving the donations, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, expressed appreciation to the two organisations for their support.
“We all have a responsibility to make sure agriculture is put on the proper track so that the benefits to the Ghanaian people will be immense,” the Minister said.
“We want to assure you that every item donated will reach the farmers, who remain the backbone of our survival,” the Minister added.
Instituted in 1985, National Farmers’ Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday of December to honour the country’s farmers, fishers, and agricultural workers for their contribution to national development and food security.
This year’s celebration, the 41st edition, will be held under the theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
It will feature a five-day national agricultural fair in Ho, showcasing innovations in mechanisation, irrigation, value addition, and digital agriculture.
